“This is a MASTERPIECE !” – John E. Smith, jazz & classical artist, musicologist, and educator

Lullabye for Lisa” is a special production, for so many reasons. As the CD packaging says, “I’m especially proud (of this composition) – and what it says about the woman who is the love of my life… S.D.”

I’m also proud of the great musicality demonstrated in the quartet performance. Pete Kahn (soprano sax), David Stearns (bass), and David Taylor (drums) really help me (piano) to communicate the rich and delicate texture that I was striving for in this recording. For me, it communicates a “complex transparency” – with layers of thought – that reflect so much of the obvious yet abstract aspects of a lifelong relationship with someone you love.

PLEASE – enjoy this music !!!
