"What I love about pitching is the art of it.  Being in control of the action, using speed and deception, and employing my fielders...winning the matchup, the situation, and the game."

"Some high school pitchers may throw a little bit harder...but nobody has the composure, the creativity, and the command that I do."
- Mattie DeDoes

Coming off of two pitching wins on a Saturday in the 2009 Regional Championships in Michigan, the following Tuesday saw Mattie DeDoes called into the state quarterfinal game into a bases-loaded, jam - with a 3-0 count existing on the hitter !  DeDoes threw strikes, and worked out of the jam...

With a 33 ACT score, coming off a banner season as a high school junior, a great season of summer ball, and armed with a sophisticated approach to the game and to pitching far beyond his years, Mattie DeDoes is ready to complete his senior year, go for state championships in both basketball and baseball, and then tackle the challenges of school and baseball at the next level.

While many feel his greatest collegiate potential is likely to be on the mound, the switch-hitting standout also has serious pop at the plate, and is a defensive whiz at third base and/or shortstop.

A Unique Package of Talent and Discipline
Mattie's high school career extends far beyond his baseball exploits.  He has realized many of his lofty goals as an athlete, a student, and as a musician.  Perhaps no greater testament exists to his work ethic than the recent completion of his first music CD, "I'm A Player."
His dedication and perseverance are part of what has made him such a poised and polished performer, whether on the mound, on the court (he plays basketball for an outstanding high school team at Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard), in the studio, on the stage, or in the classroom.
