Mattie DeDoes Headed
To Oberlin; Gabriel Richard Ranked #1 in MHSAA (Michigan)
- CHSL, District, Regional CHAMPIONS !
"When you
are building a program as we are, you need
'cornerstone'-type players.
"Mattie DeDoes clearly has not
only the talent - but also the intangibles - to
help lead us into the future.
"We are obviously thrilled to have him
headed to Oberlin - and we can't wait for him to
get here ! "
- Adrian Abrahamowicz, Oberlin College
Head Baseball Coach (effective July 1, 2010 - read
story)
---------------------
It's official - Mattie will head to Oberlin
College in the fall of 2010. He has been
accepted, and has officially confirmed his
intention to enroll there.
Mattie had received interest from many other
schools, including some Division I programs.
However, the opportunity to attend a great school
like Oberlin, to play for Coach Abrahamowicz, and
to be a "cornerstone"-type player for a
growing program were the keys to his decision.
"Coach 'A' made it clear to me that I was needed,"
says Mattie. "He let me know that, if I
came to Oberlin, there would not only be an
opportunity, but also an expectation to
produce. This was very important to
me. He also feels good about our entire
class of 2010, and that we will be able to help
take Oberlin's baseball program to a higher
level."
Mattie was awarded the John F. Oberlin
Scholarship for the next four years.
Besides its reputation as one of the top liberal
arts college in the nation, Oberlin College (Ohio)
is home to a renowned music conservatory.
Given Mattie's
accomplishments as a saxophonist, the
opportunity to make serious musical connections was
also highly attractive.

A Unique Package of Talent and
Discipline
Mattie's high school career extends far
beyond his baseball exploits. He has realized many
of his lofty goals as an athlete, a student, and as a
musician. Perhaps no greater testament exists to his
work ethic than the recent completion of his first music
CD, "I'm A Player," in 2009.
More music to come - from a recent (February) recording
session, and other projects.
His dedication and
perseverance are part of what has made him
such a poised and polished performer, whether on
the mound, on the court (he plays basketball for
an outstanding high school team at Ann Arbor
Gabriel Richard), in the studio, on the stage, or
in the classroom.

Summer Baseball...
July, 2010 - It's been a great
summer season with my MSA team.
We just (6/17) won the "End of

MI; I had a great tournament, throwing
a shutout in the opening game and
hitting 8-16 with 7 RBIs over 5
games. Next up: Madonna
College Tournament, July 22-25.
