January, 2017: the “Helmholtz Project” recording sessions continue
Detroit-based David Taylor – recognized as one of the finest, most versatile percussionists anywhere – joined us for a recording session on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Here is a short promotional video we produced that presents David performing a drum solo on one of our tracks. This take is from one of Steve DeDoes’ horn-fired arrangements (believe it or not, this unique treatment is to the pop tune “Oops, I Did It Again”). Now, take it away, David !!! –
Taylor spent the afternoon in the studio to record the drums for a number of tracks that comprise our upcoming releases, including “Songs For A Blue Planet.” Wait until you hear his incredible work on an instrumental sextet arrangement of “Everything’s Alright.” Taylor also provided great percussion on a couple original numbers that we’re very excited about: the delicate jazz composition “Lullabye for Lisa,” and the poignant original song “I Will Remember You.”
The work goes on. Some of the next important steps, while recording work continues, will be to raise funds for post-production, particularly to ensure that production mixes are of the highest quality. So far, the performances have been stellar, including (as usual) the playing of David Taylor ! S.D.
